Concerns have been raised in New Zealand about the accuracy and safety of EttieKits, a product offering self-test kits for STIs, including chlamydia, gonorrhoea, herpes, and syphilis. The New Zealand Herpes Foundation and other health experts argue that these tests are not fit for purpose, risking false results and inaccurate diagnoses.
In response, online retailers such as Pharmacy Direct have pulled the kits from sale, while Medsafe is now investigating further. Experts are calling for clearer regulation to ensure consumer safety.
