Haka May Stave off Dementia

Researchers at the University of Auckland are speculating that doing the traditional haka may help stave off dementia.  A NZ Ministry of Health study on factors that help people age well unexpectedly found that older Maoris suffered less from dementia than the wider population, despite having higher risk factors.

It may not just be the haka - the researchers also suggested it could have something to do with being bilingual and having strong involvement in cultural activities.
